Since their inception in 2007, School Leaders Institutes have served more than 1,000 school leaders in all five boroughs of New York City. Participants have reported dramatic changes in the quality of arts teaching and learning at their schools.
CAE continues these offerings in partnership with The Council of Supervisors and Administrators' (CSA) Executive Leadership Institute (ELI) and New York's premier cultural organizations.
The workshops for Spring 2017 have been announced, and are listed below. Registration is not open yet on the CSA site, but for more info you can contact Martta in our office.

Music In Times of Conflict
Artists and composers respond to the events of their times, and never more so than in times of crisis and conflict. In this workshop at the New York Philharmonic, school leaders will discover how the Czech composer Leos Janacek forged a new musical language in his orchestral rhapsody Taras Bulba as a response to World War I. A Philharmonic teaching artist will lead a workshop that models how musical learning make connections between social studies and literature. You will also hear Taras Bulba live in a dress rehearsal of the New York Philharmonic.
