Arts and Language Literacy (ALL)

The Arts and Language Literacy initiative is a comprehensive approach to broadening art education opportunities while improving students’ command of the English language and increasing content learning through arts plus arts-integrated in-school programming for students in Title 1 schools.

In addition to deepening artistic learning, lessons are specifically designed to improve the language skills of all students in the classroom (with the unique benefit of being fully accessible to students whose first language is not English), and incorporate Common Core Learning Standards – Creativity, Communication, Collaboration, Intrinsically Motivated Research, Critical Thinking – which inherently align to learning in and through the arts.

Funding for Arts and Language Literacy is made possible in part by support from the Target Foundation and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.
