A Plan for the Future: CAE’s Strategic Plan

To meet its challenges and ensure a long-term vision for arts education, CAE invited a wide range of individuals in the school and arts communities as well as funders and researchers to help establish a multiyear Strategic Plan. The process resulted in an affirmation of CAE’s mission and the realization that our programs must cover two broad areas: public engagement and capacity building. The foundation of the CAE Strategic Plan is to build upon six primary goals:
  1. Ensure all New York City public school students have access to quality arts learning that complies with New York State’s minimum arts education requirements
  2. Ensure every child experiences the arts as part of his or her basic education from kindergarten through 12th grade
  3. Mobilize a broad community of supporters for school-based arts programs and experiences
  4. Improve the quality of teaching and learning through grant programs, professional development, cultural partnerships, and other initiatives
  5. Increase resources available for arts education in the schools and for the larger field
  6. Raise awareness about the benefits of arts education
